该剧根据西班牙著名剧集《Los Misterios De Laura》改编，故事描述命案侦探Laura Diamond（Debra Messing）的生活和人际关系。她能处理最复杂的谋杀案和最凶悍的罪犯，却无法对付自己一对「邪恶」的双胞胎孩子和恼人的前夫Jake。为了让Debra Messing安心工作，制片公司决定将拍摄工作整体搬迁到她生活的纽约市。Laz Alonso和Janina Gavankar参与演出，著名导演McG参与制片。
