盛唐时期，连接西域和关内的丝绸之路，将中西方文化与贸易推向颠峰。由于恶劣气候和匪盗劫掠，盛极一时的大海道逐渐退出它在丝绸之路上的特殊地位，但散落其间的珍宝古物烁烁珠玉，诉说着大海道途中累累白骨的魅影阴魂。清朝末年，清政府在西域设省，围绕大海道及掩埋其中的宝藏，从此衍生出一个个惊心动魄的故事。
大海道烁烁珠玉的珍宝古物勾起督军大人冷山寿的垂涎。为独霸大海道的宝藏，冷山寿利用手中的枪支武装，打着镇匪治安的幌子，四处追杀行走大海道的掘墓土匪古董商人。一天，官逼民反的土匪头子“肥狼”与冷山寿遭遇。无路可逃之际，在大漠边缘安家游牧的沙玉田挺身相助，却让自己的妻儿惨死于冷山寿的枪下。
